Fat Sal's Incredible Coming to America Pop-Up

For the second Halloween in a row, Fat Sal’s Deli in Hollywood has been transformed into McDowell’s, the Queens fast food restaurant that’s suspiciously similar to McDonald’s in Eddie Murphy’s 1988 comedy classic Coming to America.

well, that's alright then....

The McDowell’s menu consisted of the Sexual Chocolate Shake (chocolate ice cream with a slice of chocolate layer cake on top), the Big Mick (like a Big Mac, only without sesame seeds and stuffed into a hoagie) and Zamunda Fries (blackened chicken, cheddar, mozzarella, sautéed onions and habanero aioli).

Fat Sal’s even created a facsimile of the barbershop from the movie, which also served as a gallery for an impressive collection of Soul Glo, McDowell’s and Sexual Chocolate merchandise for sale.

The whole production was cleverly advertised on various billboards around Hollywood.

The McDowell’s pop-up at Fat Sal’s, which runs through October 31, exceeded expectations and has left this writer craving another taste of that Sexual Chocolate.
